Voodoo Rose

If you're looking for a fragrant orange hybrid, the Voodoo rose is a great choice.

Voodoo Rose

A little history….

In 1986 this rose was first released to much fanfare. In fact, it was an All-America Rose Selection winner that same year. It was created by Christensen in the United State. Its parents were a combination of the
Camelot, First Prize, and Lolita Rose plants. I'm not sure where the name Voodoo comes from but it must have to do with its magical color!

Beauty

The two most striking features on this plant are the great orange blossoms and the fragrance. Its scent has been described as sweet or fruity. Definitely very pleasant. Its been known to get up to 6 feet tall. It will bloom repeatedly starting in late spring or the early summer period.

Some call it orange but in some cases it can actually look like a mix of colors. Orange, peach, even pink can all blend in.

omments: A beautiful blend of colors. An All America Rose Selection Winner. This rose seems to give the best blooms in the cooler weather of spring and late fall. In hot dry summers, the number of petals diminish and blow very fast.

Gardening

While the Voodoo rose is beautiful and fragrant, its only rated from zones 7a-10, so mostly warm weather zones here in the US. In zones 9 and 10 it can bloom year round. It is susceptible to mildew and blackspot, so keep an eye on that. It can do well in partial shade
