Rose Vase

A rose vase is the perfect container for your cut flowers. They've been popular for thousands of years, since the times of the ancient Greeks. Here we discuss the different types.

You can get vases in any number of materials these days. A simple plastic unit is usually the cheapest, but also tends to look cheap and can easily get knocked or blown over. A glass material is usually a little more solid. Porcelain is a step up from glass in price, as is crystal. Finally I've seen some gold and silver vases that look nice as well, but tend to get pricey, well over $100. Some crystal can get up into the $300+ range.

Some old ancient designs can go for huge money. Ancient Chinese specimens especially can be expensive. Just in October 2010, one famille rose porcelain vase sold for $32 million. It was certainly beautiful but definitely a pretty big investment! Another vase that was only worth a few hundred dollars before an auction recently went for $18 million. So I guess the moral of the story is, if you have any antique looking vases, have them checked out!

If you only have a single bud, there are actually special designs just to hold them. They are called bud vases and are usually cheaper than the larger full versions. They look a lot less awkward than having a single rose swimming in a huge lipped container!

If you're sending flowers its often good to check to see if they have any free rose vase deals. Its nice to know that your loved one will have an immediate container to drop your arrangement in once it arrives. Many times you can have an inscription added as well, which can be a permanent reminder of the occasion.
