Rose poetry

A flower as beautiful as the rose is bound to inspire poetry....my all time favorite is on the homepage.
The red rose whispers of passion,
And the white rose breathes of love;
Oh, the red rose is a falcon,
And the white rose is a dove.

But I send you a cream-white rose bud
With a flush on its petal tips;
For the love that is purest and sweetest
Has a kiss of desire on the lips.
~ John Boyle O'Rielly 1844-1890

christchurch rose garden
A lovely summers' day in the Christchurch Rose gardens. If you have the chance to visit here, then you really should do so.

The botanic gardens are wonderful, and they are right beside the art center and the museum. It's certainly my favorite area of Christchurch.

Have rose poetry to share? Why not send it in so everyone can enjoy it. Either your own, or a personal favorite that I don't have here yet.
Song Of The Rose by Sappho
For Zeus chose us a King of the flowers in his mirth,
He would call to the rose, and would royally crown it;

Three Flowers by William Watson
I made a little song about the rose
And sang it for the rose to hear....

Christmas Rose by F.W.Bourdillon
White-faced Winter Roses,
O'er the grave I plant you....

In A Kentish Rose Garden by Mathilde Blind
Beside a Dial in the leafy close,
Where every bush was burning with the Rose....

Red Red Rose by Robert Burns
O my Luve's like a red, red rose
That's newly sprung in June....
