Rose Gaujard

The rose gaujard is a great looking French hybrid tea!

Rose Gaujard

Into the history books….

This beautiful pink-red flower was first created by Jean-Marie Gaujard in 1957. Its was bred from an Opera and a Peace rose, and definitely gets great traits from both. It won the Gold Metal from the National Rose Society the next year in 1958.

Beauty

The colors on the Rose Gaujard go from red to a light pink. The light pink and white are more on the undersides of the blooms, so it kind of resembles its parent the Peace in that respect. They are large and full blooms.

This rose will get up to about 4 feet tall or so. Consider planting some blue perennials to really show off the pink and reds on these. They have a nice mild fragrance as well.

They are well known for their reblooming throughout the season.

Gardening

I've seen this plant listed from zone 5 to 10. Its seems to do best in moderate climates though (6 to 9). You should do normal pruning in the spring.

Its very tough against disease and pests.
