Rainbow Roses

Rainbow roses are a colorful addition to your home! Find out more about these vibrant looking flowers!

Rainbow roses

Also called happy roses, these wildly colored flowers were first created by a Dutch florist named Peter van der Werken. Van der Werken invented a process for injected dye or coloring into the roses' stems while they are growing. The color is carefuly matched to the petals and the dyes are designed so that the plants can absorb it. Each petal will get a seperate color. In theory this process seems simple enough, but to actually acheive it is difficult. The measurements must be exact or you will get a bad batch.

Rainbow roses plants and bushes aren't available for sale. It would definitely be a talking point to have one of those in your garden. Unfortunately, you can only get dried or cut flowers. Because of the specialized growing process, they are extremely expensive. A half-dozen (6) goes for about $90, not including shipping! You can also often get a freeze dried specimen, which might be a better option if you're spending that kind of money. Some people like the unusual and exotic, and that's definitely what you get with these!
