Paradise RoseGetting mauve into your garden can be tough but the paradise rose fits the bill.
Into the history books…. This flower was another creation by Weeks and was first bred in 1978. Its parentage is from a Swarthmore and an Angel Face. Its also known as the Passion or Burning Sky. It ended up being a American Rose Society winner the next year, as well as earning the Portland Gold! Beauty The most striking thing about the Paradise rose is the color. Its hard to find a purple tint like this! One issue that some people have is matching it in with the rest of their garden. A nice yellow blooming plant will look nice underneath. Its an early bloomer so you can look forward to that in the spring. It also has a very nice fragrance! One issue with this plant is that it takes some work to get that mauve edge to it. Its also only rated for zones 7b and higher, so it definitely wants the warm sunny weather, although some folks have reported growing it in zones as low as 5. Its disease resistant to black spot and mildew.
