Ebb Tide RoseIf you are looking to add some really deep purple to your garden, the Ebb Tide rose is one of the deepest!
Some history…. This is a fairly new flower, first bred by Carruth in 2006. Its a combination of Blue Nile, Sweet Charlotte, and Sweet Chariot breeds. Beauty As I've said this rose has some extremely deep purple to it! It has huge blooms with a great crisp fragrance. Some call it clove-like or spicy...in any case it has a nice scent! Its a smaller Floribunda, only getting up to about 2-3 feet or so. Even so, it still makes for nice cut flowers. It looks great in a garden with some smaller, miniature roses underneath it. Or, plant a light colored flower underneath to emphasize the purple even more.
The Ebb Tide rose is rated for zones 5 and up. However, many veterans of this rose have reported that the deep purples are helped by colder weather. Hot spells seem to pull back the bloom a little bit. Its been bred to be nice and disease resistant as well.
