Cornelia RoseThe cornelia rose is a great rose for a shaded place. It has a deep great scent and a unique color as well!
Origin Its actually a hybrid musk rose and this was first introduced in 1925 by the great British breeder Pemberton. Beauty This has a great looking color! Some people call this a salmon or strawberry, I think of it more like a creamy pink. It has a little yellow in the center that really accents the rest of it. It has a lovely musk to go with the color as well. They work equally well as a climber or a shrub. It has long canes. They will bloom with medium sized heads and they tend to go in clusters throughout the summer and early fall. With their fragrance and large blooms, they make great cut flowers. They can get up to about 5 ft. tall at the max but are normally about 3 ft. tall. They are quite useful as borders at that height. They would be sure to attract a lot of outside attention there! They also do find in large or small beds. Gardening This is a nice choice for a beginning gardener. They are nearly thornless so they are easy to handle. They also need very little to light pruning in most cases. Most importantly, they are relatively shade tolerant so they're a good choice for those tough spots without good sunlight. However, with sunlight it can be a very strong grower. It normally gets up to 5 feet tall but some have claimed up to 20 foot specimens, which seems a little high to me. It is rated from zone 5b up to 9 so its not a great choice for very cold areas. Many growers also report that its extremely tough against diseases.
