Brown Rose

With the recent push toward environmentally sound practices and green living, its no surprise that these flowers are growing in popularity. Besides being the color of earth, trees, and wood, it also conjures up ideas of coffee and cocoa. They definitely add a feeling of warmth.

The meaning of brown roses is more friendship or a token of appreciation, rather than romantic in nature. They are popular for a work bouquet, for example. They tend to be seen as a little more masculine.

In recent years, tan and earth tones have become more popular in wedding celebrations, especially for a late fall time frame. A mix of brown and ivory or cream can look spectacular. They can look nice in a bouquet as well with ivory or even pink hues. You can use brown petals on a light colored tablecloth for decoration as well.

They can be difficult to find at a florist, however. Terra Nostra is a true breed, but is rarely found at local stores. Other varieties to consider include Hot Cocoa, Jocelyn rose, and the Chocolate Cosmos. Lighter colored breeds include the Cafe Ole and Spiced Coffee. Depending on where it is grown, the Leonidas can be a good pick too.
