Albertine RoseThe Albertine rose is outstanding visually. If you are looking for a unique pink, apricot, or salmon for your garden, its a great choice.
Into the history books…. This was first bred by a French group, the Barbier Brothers, way back in 1921. Beauty If you are looking for a beautiful pink, apricot, or salmon color, this flower is a great choice. The blooms actually start with red and then fade through the pink spectrum to a whitish hue through the season, and they are extremely large to boot. It is a rambler and does quite well on a fence or post. Some people rave about its fragrance. I think it is pleasant but mild. There are definitely more scented varieties available. To me the best point of the Albertine is the color. Gardening This one can be a little tricky for newcomers. First of all, it can have a tendency to get mildew, especially in a wetter climate. Also, it wll require winter protection and is really more of a warm weather plant, although it is rated from 6 to 9 for zones. Even though it is a climber, it can work in a container as well.
