Abraham Darby Rose

Into the history books….

This flower was first bred in 1985 by David Austin. It combined a floribunda called the Yellow Cushion and a climbing rose called the Aloha. The result combined a lot of features of the two and resulted in a kind of hybrid climber and shrub.

Beauty

It definitely has a unique peach like color. I call it almost a peach-pink color since in certain lights it looks a little lighter and more pink. It has a strong fragrance as well. Just a couple of these big blooms and it will easily keep your vase full! It will repeat bloom as well.

As kind of a combination shrub and climber, it can work in limited climbing areas, such as a tight trellis.

Gardening

Its definitely a strong grower, even more so in warm climates. Its rated from zones 5a-10. It seems to grow better as a climber in the heat, more as a shrub in the cool weather. Its been known to be tough against diseases, however some people have reported issues with rust.
