Carolina Rose

Of all the native breeds, the Carolina rose may be the most well known. It is known officially as Rosa Carolina. Find out more about this great native flower!

Rosa Carolina

The Carolina rose is probably the most well known wild species around. Its native to the United States and especially the East Coast, where it gets its name. You'll find it out in heavily vegetated thickets or prairies. Its normally found as a small shrub, but can grow to five feet in the right conditions.

As with all wild roses, the Rosa Carolina will have 5 petals, usually pink, but I have heard of some white varieties. It blooms and is most active in the early summer from May to June. It has a great fragance as well, very earthy in my opinion.

Carolina Rose

As a native breed, its not commonly found in nurseries or flower shops. If you're lucky enough to have some in the area around you, they can be grown from seeds ,with a good amount of success, after all it is a wild rose! You can also try bare root or container transfer.
